Reality Events
Why do we need to focus on topics like reality? Isn't reality always present? It is, but there are reasons why it becomes especially important in the context of change. Change represents a shift in reality for those involved and beyond, and we need changes that are people-oriented.
We also know that we are increasingly living in a man-made reality. It's no longer just about infrastructure or material objects; we now exist in a virtual environment where our mental inputs—texts, visuals, speech—are created and delivered through sophisticated systems. This is a very confusing world from a human perspective. How do we relate this to our old more physical world?
What about customer reality? Traditional advice like "go out of the building" or "talk to customers" still holds some truth, but physical location is no longer as important as it was during the "office era." You can't expect to get direct answers from customers who are themselves navigating the same turbulent world as we are.
So, how do we cope with this situation? What should we do before fully transitioning to a new, changed reality? Experimentation alone isn't enough. Physical or virtual "labs" can help to some extent, but in our modern VUCA world, there are so many moving parts changing simultaneously that any lab is always lagging behind current reality.
New approaches are needed. This is why Reality Events came into being. Their purpose is to make changes in the VUCA world more impactful and productive.
